Conference grants 2025
The following events will be supported:
- CROI San Francisco, 9-12 March 2025, onsite,
- ESCMID Global Vienna, 11-15 April 2025, onsite
- IAS Kigali, 13 July - 17 July 2025, onsite
- EACS Paris, 15 - 18 October 2025, onsite
Announcements will be made through the SSI member list and SAFE-ID announcements. SAFE-ID ensures equal geographical distribution within Switzerland, and that private practitioners can also benefit. SAFE-ID will guarantee that seats are allocated equally and in all fairness to qualifying healthcare professionals.
Selection criteria
- Healthcare professionals treating HIV patients / infectious diseases or who can demonstrate a scientific contribution to the field
- Healthcare professionals working in SHCS centres, smaller hospitals, private practices and in research institutions
- Healthcare professionals with experience in HIV / infectious diseases who can share learning to a larger community after the congress because they teach in colleges or postgraduate units, or are part of a larger network of healthcare professionals anticipating information from the congress
- Number of patients treated
- SSI membership (not mandatory)
- The same healthcare professional can only be supported once per year
- In case of big demand, abstract holders will be prioritised
- The entire conference package has be booked via our agency (exception CROI, see below)
Process
- Interested healthcare professionals apply online
- University clinics: the chiefs may propose applications, but applicants need to apply themselves
- Supported healthcare professionals are put in touch with a contracted travel agency
- The travel agency is processing the individual arrangement with the participant and invoices 33% of the package to the participant. This process is mandatory.
SAFE-ID onsite conference package
The package includes the following:
- Flight or train ex Switzerland (air: economy)
- Conference registration
- Hotel room for the conference duration
- 2/3 of the cost are paid by the grant
- 1/3 of the cost is charged to the participant by the travel agent
CROI conference package
The package for the Retrovirus Conference CROI includes:
- Flight ex Switzerland (air: economy)
Participants are responsible for paying and organising:
- Travel to the airport in Switzerland
- Local transportation from airport to hotel and vice versa
- Meals and other expenses during the conference
